Women scientists resurrected in Wikipedia "edit-a-thon" - ZipMinis Blog-ology: Science of Blogging

Mines the Wikipedia project that aimed to elevate the important women of science into the spotlight, suggesting that they are often overlooked by history.

Notes that on July 25 (the birthday of Rosalind Franklin, an X-ray crystallographer), the National Institute of Medical Research (NIMR) created an "edit-a-thon," attended by 20 women and 3 men. Attendees were told that of all Wikipedia page editors, less than 10% are female, illustrating, perhaps, why women are underrepresented.
