Darin L. Hammond on Science and Creativity in Storytelling - ZipMinis: Science of Blogging and Writing
Imagination is the gem of human evolution
I claim throughout this website that empathy is the highest evolved capacity of human beings.
Empathy requires imagination for the observer to insert herself into the mind of another human.
You imagine what it's like to be another person when you empathize with them: thoughts, emotions, passions.

"Write as if you were teaching a child."
Albert Einstein was a simple man who believed in the scientific principle of Occam's Razor, paraphrased as: "when you have two competing theories that make exactly the same predictions, the simpler one is the better."

An Introvert's Essential Guide to Powerful Blogging - ZipMinis: Science of Blogging and Writing
We must redefine the words "introvert" and "alone"
In the minds of extrovert leaders and management, "introvert" and "alone" are pejorative labels.
To the outgoing, these words mean seclusion and isolation, not a team player. Introverts are perceived as antisocial, miserable, and unapproachable.
All are negative labels.

Imagination is Revolt: Dr. Seuss & John Lennon - ZipMinis: Science of Blogging and Writing
Takeaways:
Imagination has the power to connect you to others through empathy and is unique to the human animal.
Imagination challenges reality, and by connecting with others social, you can make changes in the world.
You must first imagine change before you can make it reality, and the more detailed the imagined vision, the more persuasive and powerful it will become.

Read Slower and You'll Grow Smarter - ZipMinis: Science of Blogging and Writing
Darin's notes: Because of the nature of my work, I read massive amounts of information on digital screens. I know this is anecdotal, but I tend to read less closely now, scan more quickly, and think less deeply about digital material.
Along with this, I can't seem to find time to read a book, and articles such as this make me think that I must make the time. I just checked out Jumpha Lahiri's The Lowland from the library, and intend to make some quiet time to sit down and read it.

How Authoring a Book Boosts an Entrepreneur's Authority and Business - ZipMinis: Science of Blogging and Writing
Writing a book demonstrates an entrepreneur's commitment and endurance
Darin's notes: The author actually only lists five ways, but they are good ones. The benefits of writing a book are powerful in accelerating a niche business within an industry. In addition, personal benefits are gained as one goes through the difficult and lengthy work of writing a book: no easy task.
The skills, knowledge, and capacities gained through writing a book are reward enough. One learns and grows through the process. The benefits to the business are an added bonus.
